We are seeking to hire a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team to help us develop further our payments platform. The Senior Data Engineer shall collaborate closely with stakeholders across the company to design, develop and maintain our payments data warehouse and dashboarding solutions. Data Engineers draw their expertise and experience to assist in engineering high-quality solutions to complex problems in the domain, helping to shape the future of our platform to constantly raise the bar.

Based in Malta, the Senior Data Engineer will help deliver innovative technologies that revolutionize the payments industry. As a small team, we aim to be agile and deliver payment solutions for our customers in a fast and efficient manner. Our payments platform is already being used by early customers and as part of the development team you will be working on feature enhancements related to payments. With your expertise and experience in engineering solutions for complex problems, you will help shape the future platform and continuously raise the bar for payments.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a multi-functional team to design and implement phases of product and technical initiatives, making effective data engineering decisions
• Design, develop and maintain scalable data models
• Build batch and real time data pipelines
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to provide analytical support and develop dashboards for operational use
• Support the running of data solutions in a critical environment
• Enforcing software development best practices – including but not limited to monitoring and debugging
• Assist in the daily data operations and maintenance task.

Your Experience and Background

•  5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Great at communicating ideas and working in a team
• You have a proactive, positive "can-do" attitude to your work, and you enjoy learning about new technology
• Up to date and well-rounded knowledge of cutting-edge technologies and data engineering practices and processes
• Advanced knowledge of DWH Concepts and Data Modelling techniques
• Expert knowledge of SQL and experience in using cloud-based DWH, such as Snowflake/Amazon Redshift/Google Big Query
• Experience with building ETL/ELT processes and orchestration tools such as Airflow, NiFi or similar
• Knowledge or familiarity of streaming frameworks such as Kafka or Google Pub Sub as well as in-memory data stores, such as Redis or Memcached, will be considered an asset
• Proven experience using dashboard and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase or similar will be considered an asset.
